Kolkata: A teenager died after the bike he was riding hit a median divider on the Garden Reach flyover, while a Kolkata Police inspector was injured when he fell off his bike on the Kidderpore road in the Maidan area on Sunday.
Cops said Adil Khan (16) was speeding on the flyover when he lost control over his bike and it skidded. The victim, a resident of Metiabruz, was not even wearing his helmet and his head crashed on the divider.He was declared dead on arrival.
In another incident that was recorded half-an-hour earlier, the Kolkata Police inspector got cuts on his face, after he fell on the road after facing a sudden blackout. He narrowly missed getting hit by a dumper which was coming right behind him.
Cops have said that inspector Santosh Roy had just crossed the J &N Island at the Red Road-Outram Road crossing when he fell off the bike around 1 pm.
The police and other motorists removed the cop to SSKM Hospital where he is said to be out of danger.
