• 6-hour fire on top floor at Garstin Place

  • Kolkata: A fire broke out on the top floor of a two-storey building at 5, Garstin Place around noon on Tuesday. No one was injured.

    Four fire engines managed to douse the blaze only around 5.45pm, said police. The cause of the fire and the extent of damage were yet to be ascertained, said an officer.

    The city witnessed two other blazes between Monday night and Tuesday morning.Around 5.30 am on Tuesday, a ground-floor godown on Strand Road was destroyed.

    The night before, a fire broke out in the kitchen of an asbestos-shed shanty at Phillips Colony under Haridevpur police station after a leakage in LPG gas cylinder.
