• Entrepreneurship focus of CU dept workshop

  • Kolkata: Students from 12 colleges participated in a four-day workshop organised by the Calcutta University’s business management department to create interest among students in honing their entrepreneurial capabilities, while keeping in mind the local traditional craft-based businesses.

    The workshop focused on promoting green marketing, leveraging social media, and preserving traditional crafts.The students brainstormed entrepreneurial ideas and identified ways so that traditional business can thrive in the global market and cultural identity is preserved at the same time.

    Among the participating colleges were Shri Shikshayatan College, East Cacutta Girls’ College, THK Jain College, Sivanath Sastri College, Sister Nivedita University and others.

    Head of the business management department, Sharmistha Banerjee, said, “The programme was organised keeping in mind that a considerable number of youths are not keen on exploring and promoting the heritage and community-based indigenous crafts and skills”

    The students interacted with many artisans at the workshop.
