  • The room where the woman was murdered KOLKATA: The 17-year-old who strangled his girlfriend's adoptive mother had planned the crime by watching YouTube videos, cops have told the boy's mother. She, in turn, told cops that on the day of the murder, he had left the Madhyamgram house on the pretext of going to a party and then called his parents around 11 pm on June 5 to inform them that he was heading to Behala as his girlfriend's mother had passed away due to a heart attack. This conversation happened four hours before the woman was strangled by him around 3 am on June 6.

Cops said both planning the murder and telling his parents the woman was already dead prove it was premeditated, not a spur-of-the-moment act as the boy was making it out to be. He has been claiming he had intended to scare her and killed her on the insistence of his girlfriend.

The probe shows the key persons involved with the murder of the 54-year-old woman - the minor girl and her boyfriend - have been withholding vital information.

Sources said the boy returned home on the morning of June 7 and behaved normally. He spoke with his girlfriend over phone several times. His parents spoke to the girl and her father to express their condolence. They had continued to have conversations over phone, unaware of what had transpired. The girl and her adoptive father had also visited the boy's house in Madhyamgram on the day of Ulto Rath, July 15.
