  • Kolkata: IIM Calcutta officials on Friday slashed the “entry fee” by 80%, a day after parents of Kendriya Vidyalaya Joka students blocked D H Road to protest against the charge all vehicles were asked to pay while dropping children to the school on the management institute campus.

Two-wheelers have been exempted from paying the entry fee. While initially, cars were told to pay Rs 6,000 a year and buses Rs 12,000 a year, after the 80% slash, cars will have to pay Rs 1,200 a year and buses Rs 2,400.No auto ferrying students will be allowed on the campus. All those entering the IIM campus will have to show ID cards at the main gate.

But some parents questioned buses, considered efficient vehicles, being charged the fee. Police said talks would continue next week. “This is a settlement we hope all sides will find manageable,” said a Behala division officer.
