Kolkata: Meghalaya’s Rangdajied United FC will replace Hyderabad FC in the ongoing Durand Cup.
Hyderabad FC — in the midst of financial troubles — failed to field a team and eventually dropped out of the tournament, forcing the organisers to find a replacement at the eleventh hour. “Hyderabad FC has dropped out of the event due to unforeseen circumstances. While many capable clubs were available to replace the team in the Group, the Government of Meghalaya suggested the inclusion of Rangdajied United FC (RUFC), which was welcomed by the Durand Cup Organising Committee,” the organisers said in a statement.
Rangdajied have been clubbed in Group F with fellow Meghalaya side Lajong FC, FC Goa and Tribhuvan Army.
In Saturday’s matches, Odisha FC routed BSF FT 5-0 in Group E while Bengaluru FC blanked Inter Kashi 3-0 with Sunil Chhetri scoring again. TNN
