Kolkata: Mayor and urban development minister Firhad Hakim on Saturday said a sewer project will be undertaken to resolve the long-standing waterlogging problem between Kestopur and Kaikhali.
“There is a dearth of a proper drainage system. We have taken up a drainage upgrade project that aims at mitigating the waterlogging woes. It will get started from the next winter session,” Hakim said.KMC was also engaged in developing the sewerage network of areas that are located off EM Bypass, the minister added.
Though a drainage pumping station was set up near City Centre 2 in New Town to provide relief from severe waterlogging at Chinar Park and on the service road near Haldiram More, the place was inundated once again on Saturday following heavy rain.
PWD officials said they now planned to set up more drainage pumping stations at Teghoria, Joramandir, Baguiati and Kestopur.
