• Coal India, GAIL enter into JV for natural gas project

  • Kolkata: Coal India Ltd (CIL) and GAIL (India) Ltd (GAIL) signed a joint venture agreement on Monday to start a coal to synthetic natural gas plant.

    The plant, to be located in the Raniganj area of Eastern Coalfield Limited, will produce 80,000 normal cubic metres of SNG per hour, with an annual output of 633.6 million normal cubic metres. This production will require 1.9 million tonnes of coal which will be supplied by CIL.A statement issued by the CIL stated, “The synergy and partnership of the two corporate giants is a big step towards National Coal Gasification Mission which facilitates utilisation of chemical properties of coal.” tnn
