App on prevention of mosquito-borne diseases launched

A special app has been launched by the state Panchayat Department to combat dengue and malaria in rural areas.

The app will directly monitor the personnel given the task of checking mosquito-borne diseases.

The panchayat-level workers have been asked to upload all the information on the app from the spot and field surveys they conduct.

Besides Health, the Departments of Public Works and  Urban Development intervene when there is a dengue or malaria outbreak in municipal areas.

The municipalities also get help from these departments in dealing with these diseases and destroying the dengue and mosquito larvae.

The Panchayat Department has chalked out a plan to identify ‘hotspots’ in rural areas by conducting surveys through this app, officials said.
