• Green channels to divert midnight Maa traffic

  • Kolkata: The police have decided to create green channels on the Park Circus Connector between midnight and 5am — the time when Maa Flyover will be shut for Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) work.

Police sources said this was being down to ensure that vehicles, travelling from the airport side, are not held up.

“The idea is to cut down cross-over time at the various crossings and instead allot a larger time slot for vehicles moving towards or away from the airport,” said an officer.

The vehicles coming from Salt Lake and East Kolkata via EM Bypass, intend to avail Maa Flyover for their westward journey.

According to the plans so far, such vehicles will be diverted via EM Bypass to Parama Island, Park Circus Connector, Number 4 Bridge, New Park Street, Congress Exhibition Road, Amir Ali Avenue/Nasiruddin Road and then onto A J C Bose Road Flyover.

The vehicles, availing AJC Bose Road and Maa flyovers for their eastward journey will be diverted via Seven Point Crossing to Suhrawardi Avenue, Darga Road, Number 4 Bridge, Park Circus Connector and to the EM Bypass, cops said.
