Kolkata 2nd most affordable big city in housing mkt

Kolkata: Of top eight cities, Pune and Kolkata are the second most affordable residential market in the country, according to the Knight Frank India affordability index. The index places Ahmedabad as the most affordable city.
While a person would have to pay 21% of his income in EMI Ahmedabad, it would be 24% in Kolkata and Pune. The figure for Mumbai is as high as 51%.Reacting to this, Credai Bengal president Siddharth Pansari pointed out that Kolkata — because of the expansion of suburbs — was still able to affordable houses within city limits. Merlin Group MD Saket Mohta said: “Kolkata has the highest inventory stock in affordable housing and has huge demand in this segment.”tnn
