The Rangpur resident was caught at Hili border as he tried to sneak into India by hiding inside a truck KOLKATA: A Bangladeshi youth was caught as he tried to sneak into the Indian territory in an Indian cargo truck through the Hili border in north Bengal on Thursday.
Dabul Sheikh, a resident of Gaibandha in Rangpur division of Bangladesh, climbed into the hood of the truck and sat huddled under a tarpaulin cover, dodging the driver's eyes as the vehicle left Bangladesh for India.
A BSF Northern Frontier officer said they were working closely with BGB. "The BSF North Bengal Frontier effectively managed gatherings of Bangladeshi nationals near the Indo-Bangladesh border on Wednesday. With vigilance and coordination with the BGB, they ensured safety and prevented any border breaches. Contrary to rumours, there is no widespread movement of the minority population from Bangladesh. Gatherings were due to local unrest fears. BSF and BGB are actively reassuring and helping individuals return home," the BSF said.
