Kolkata: The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has proposed to offer about Rs 1 lakh waiver in the building sanction fee to the owners of small plots, measuring upto 3 cottah. The decision was taken by the civic body’s buildings department on Friday. The matter will be placed before KMC House for necessary approval.
The proposal was passed in the mayor-in-council meeting.“Currently, our buildings department charges Rs 2.2 lakh for sanctioning of a building plan on a plot, measuring between 2 and 3 cottah. We have decided to bring down the sanction fee to Rs 1.2 lakh,” said mayor Firhad Hakim.
However, the KMC buildings department will offer this waiver to those who will seek to construct their houses and not indulge in commercial activities. “We won’t allow the promoters to take advantage of this scheme,” said Hakim.
