  • Kolkata: Bengal is all set to host a three-day ‘Food and Fruit Festival’ at Netaji Indoor Stadium from Aug 9 reports Sritama China. The festival promises to be a culinary extravaganza, showcasing a plethora of exotic fruits alongside local favourites, and will be a vibrant celebration of Bengal’s rich horticulture heritage and food diversity.

    The festival will witness an array of cultural events as well.

    The 3-day event will bring together food enthusiasts, farmers, chefs, retailers and exporters under one roof to highlight diverse culinary delights. From exotic fruits and indigenous vegetables to processed foods like jam, chocolate, pickles and cakes, the festival would offer the whole range of horticulture marvels from various districts. It will be open from 12 noon to 8 pm and entry will be free, an official said.

    Arup Roy, minister-in-charge of food processing industries and horticulture department, said a ‘Mango Mela’ was supposed to be held in June but it was postponed due to polls. Hence, the ‘Bengal Food and Fruit Festival’ was being organized.
