• Kolkata doctor's rape-murder: BJP's Shazia Ilmi slams Mamata Banerjee, INDI Alliance

  • NEW DELHI: BJP leader Shazia Ilmi has strongly criticized West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and the INDI alliance for their silence regarding the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical Hospital.

Speaking at a press conference in Delhi, Ilmi expressed outrage over the handling of the case and the reaction from political leaders.

Ilmi condemned the focus on defaming the victim rather than holding the institution accountable and demanding justice for the victim.

She further criticized the selective response to such cases, pointing out that reactions seem to depend on which government is in power.

"There are marks of injuries on her body, yet Mamata Banerjee remains silent, all the women parliamentarians and the entire INDI alliance is silent. On top of that, vile things are being said about the girl. Instead of talking about the rapist, questioning the institution, and putting the management behind bars, they are speaking ill of the girl. When it comes to women's rights, and cases like rape, your response depends on which government is in power, and this is a very shameful thing," says BJP leader Shazia Ilmi.
