Kolkata: Congress leader and former MMiC of KMC Pradip Ghosh passed away at a city nursing home on Monday. Ghosh, 75, had been suffering from age-related ailments for a few years. His son Sajal said the last rites will be performed on Tuesday.
KMC functionaries expressed grief over the death of Ghosh, who had handled several portfolios including MMiC (health and slum development), opposition (Congress) leader and chairman of KMC accounts committee.
Tarak Singh, MMiC overseeing the KMC sewerage and drainage department, said he had a long association with Ghosh as Congress workers and later shared the KMC platform. “I remember when we used to take part in political movements together. Sometimes we worked under different political identities, but the friendship continued,” said Singh.
Sajal Ghosh, a BJP councillor, said it will be difficult for him to match his father’s performance as a political leader. “I will continue to serve my voters the way my father served them,” said Ghosh. tnn
