Kolkata: Due to ongoing repair work of the overhead water tank no. 2 in Salt Lake, water supply is likely to be affected in the households located in the seven blocks of Salt Lake Sector I over the next five to seven days. The blocks where water supply could be affected are AA, AB, AC, BA, BB, CA and CB blocks.
BMC MMiC (water supply) Tulsi Sinha Roy said that a message has been circulated on WhatsApp to inform the residents.Roy said, “Previously, the tanks were repaired individually, that too when it was required. This is the first time that major upgrade of all the tanks is being undertaken. The tanks will undergo retrofitting, mechanical, electro-civil repair and upgrade of the overhead and ground level reservoirs including the boundary walls, tank structure and the dome on top. The old pumps will also be replaced.”
Officials said that the water tanks have not been upgraded since the inception years of the township.
