Kolkata: The appliances business of Godrej and Boyce, a part of Godrej Enterprises, is set to increase its network by 30% in various districts of Bengal following an uptick in rural demand.
Kamal Nandi, business head and executive vice-president of Godrej Appliances, said: “The rural markets are doing better than metros across the country, including in Bengal.We are adding 30% new networks to cater to the rural market of Bengal.”
Currently, the appliance market size in Bengal is Rs 5,000 crore, with Godrej Appliances having a 10% market share. “We plan to increase the market share in Bengal to Rs 700 crore,” Nandi said.
The appliance major focuses on premium and high-end ACs, air coolers, refrigerators, and washing machines in the state.
