• NCC units commemorate Independence day in Kolkata with patriotic zeal and ardour

  • KOLKATA: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Kolkata celebrated the 78thIndependence Day with great enthusiasm, centering around the theme of "Viksit Bharat."

    The festivities began with an impactful street play performed at Princep Ghat and the NCC Institute, depicting India's journey towards becoming a developed nation. Subsequently, an Independence Day rally was held on a ferry across the Hooghly, representing the nation's relentless progress and the unity of its citizens.

    Several rallies were conducted at important locations, including Strand Road, Serampore, and Belur Math, culminating in a grand flag hoisting ceremony at the iconic Shahid Minar, Outram Road, and near the Victoria Memorial.The day's events also featured a poster-making competition and another street play at the NCC Institute, along with a blood donation camp organized at Belur Math.

    Brig Krishnendu Das, Group Commander, NCC Kolkata B, inaugurated the celebrations and commended the cadets for their dedication, emphasizing their crucial role in shaping a "Viksit Bharat." He reminded the future leaders of the immense sacrifices made by freedom fighters and encouraged them to fulfill their responsibilities towards society and the nation with the same unwavering commitment.

    The celebrations concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where the winners of the poster competition were recognized with medals and trophies, symbolizing their contribution to India's promising future.
