Kolkata: The National Insurance Company Ltd (NICL) has become the first PSU insurer to settle a health claim through the national health exchange (NHCX). It has done it with Paramount Health Services & Insurance TPA on Wednesday.
The case was executed at RN Tagore Institute of Cardiac Sciences in Kolkata’s Mukundapur, said Paramount senior VP Shamita Paul.
“It is a historical event. It could finally happen because of the diligent efforts of our head office team and Paramount,” said Sanchali Lal, NICL chief manager in Kolkata.
“We are now confident that after a few more cashless cases, we can gradually move over to NHCX platform. This is just the beginning,” said Paramount MD Nayan Shah.
Priyamita Ghosh, a veteran in PPN enrolment committee of NICL, said: “The first baby step towards complete digitalisation has already been initiated.”
Ajitha Rajagopalan, manager, NICL IT department, added that the Ayushman Bharat ID was the key for NHCX integration.
