Kolkata: Two girls from R G Kar Medical College are among 24 women from different fields who were felicitated by the state on Wednesday to observe Kanyashree Divas. Tiyasa Chanda and Madhurima Mishra, the two awardees are third-year MBBS students at the college. Tiyasa is from Howrah and Madhurima is from Contai.
The women and child development and social welfare department observed the 11th Kanyashree Day on Wednesday, when 14 students were felicitated for stopping child marriage and 24 girl students for empowering their bright future with the help of the Kanyashree scheme.
