  • Kolkata: The junior doctors, who had been guarding the Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital (CNMCH) administrative building to stop Sandip Ghosh from taking charge, shifted their protest to the main campus on the other side of CIT Road on Wednesday. The shift came in the wake of the Calcutta HC sending the former RG Kar principal on long leave.

“The court order came as a relief for us, so we have shifted the protest venue,” said one of the protesters. Over 200 students of CNMCH are now staging their protest under the portico of the emergency ward.

Ankush Ghosh, a protesting doctor, said: “We are agitating to seek justice for the victim and for a safer campus. The female doctors from our campus are joining the ‘The night is ours’ rally to demand their safety and security.”
