  • Shampa Pramanik’s picture was posted on FB by state police KOLKATA: A woman constable who was on duty on VIP Road on Aug 14 night was severely injured when unruly hooligans pelted stones at policemen. Shampa Pramanik suffered injuries on her right eye and face and had to undergo a surgery.

    "The crowd, some of them drunk, had suddenly become unruly. When we tried to stop them, they began damaging parked vehicles. Some of them even set a vehicle on fire and another group began stone pelting us," said a senior officer. Five persons were arrested in the case.
