  • Kolkata: The city received intermittent spells of moderate rain on Saturday. Most parts of south Bengal, including Kolkata, are likely to experience light to moderate rain from Sunday to Tuesday due to a low-pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Bengal and Bangladesh.

An associated cyclonic circulation is likely to move north-northwestwards and turn into a well-marked low-pressure area over Bangladesh and adjoining Bengal by Monday.

That apart, a trough runs from Assam to north Odisha, said the Regional Meteorological Centre, Alipore. A bulletin issued on Saturday said most south Bengal districts will receive showers over the next three days with heavy rain likely in one or two places at North and South 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Birbhum, East and West Burdwan.

According to KMC, a heavy downpour between 4 pm and 5 pm caused waterlogging in north Kolkata pockets. Kolkata received 29.8 mm rain on Saturday.
