  • Kolkata: Against lucrative odds, Flying Scotsman from the stable of Shyam Habbu pulled off a resolutive win in the Awesome Cup here at the RCTC on Tuesday. It was the Destroyer who was installed as the firm favourite to win this event, but ran like a dud. On the other hand it was the Flying Scotsman who came with telling strides to collar the long time leader Clifford. The winner is all set for an encore.

Another favourite to bite the dust was Sativur in the Make My Day Plate for maiden three-year-olds only. The race was won by the second in demand Main Street under the care of Arti Doctor on whom Yash Narredu rode a confident race. Sativur does not run two races alike and is best left alone.

Felix, another long shot from the stable of Dr Anil Kumar scored at will in the hands of Hindu Singh. Norwegian Wood was the firm favourite but was a big flop with Bibury taking the second spot.

The last race was by last outing winner Cristaldo again at nourishing odds from the stable of B. Mahesh. The favourite Xtravagant Star who flattered to deceive was given a poor rider R. S. Bhait, who replaced the indisposed Yash Narredu in the saddle.

The first two races were won by hot favourites Oromelo and Global Influence respectively.
