(PTI Photo) KOLKATA: The father of the 31-year-old second-year post-graduate trainee doctor from R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, who was brutally raped and murdered, on Sunday expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of CM Mamata Banerjee, accusing the administration of attempting to silence those demanding justice for his daughter by jailing them.

"The CM is talking about providing justice and took to the streets herself.Top Picks For YouKolkata doctor death: Who is Sanjay Roy? We have refused to take any compensation that was offered to us by the state government," the victim's father said.

While speaking to the reporters on Sunday evening, he said, "No results have come out of the inquiry that is being done. We hope we will get the results and the justice soon. And, this will bring peace to my daughter's soul. No one from the department or the college cooperated with us. The entire chest medicine department is responsible for my daughter's murder as we suspect that some persons from the department were involved in the crime," he said.

He also suspects if there was any kind of intention to destroy the evidence as their suspicion was heightened by the immediate cremation of his daughter's body.

"There were three bodies awaiting cremation at the crematorium ground but our daughter's body was cremated first. We were then so much upset and in a state of shock after losing our only child that we couldn't think about it," he said.

The victim's mother said that she considered everyone standing by his family in these trying times as her sons and daughters. The bereaved mother also mentioned that the CBI assured them that the accused would be arrested at the earliest and strictest punishment be given to the accused.

"I consider everyone who is standing with us, as my sons and daughters. CBI has assured us that the accused will be arrested at the earliest and awarded strict punishment based on whatever we have told them," she said.

Earlier, the victim's mother raised doubts over the arrest of civic volunteer Sanjay Roy and said that she didn't think that he was the real culprit. "The forensic department officials, who came to our house, also told us that such crime couldn't be committed by just one man, hinting at the possibility of more accused being involved in the crime," she added.
