  • Former RG Kar medical college principal Sandip Ghosh NEW DELHI: For the fourth consecutive day on Monday, CBI officers questioned Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, regarding the rape and murder of a woman doctor. Ghosh was summoned to the CBI's city office at CGO Complex early in the morning and was subjected to an extensive inquiry into his actions following the doctor's death, the reasons for contacting her, and why the parents of the deceased doctor were made to wait for nearly three hours.

Ghosh was also asked about who ordered the renovation of rooms near the seminar hall at the emergency building of the hospital after the incident. He has undergone several hours of questioning by CBI officers over the last three days since Friday.

The CBI officers are meticulously checking his mobile phone call list details as well as his WhatsApp chat history. Ghosh, an orthopaedic doctor, resigned from his position as principal of RG Kar Medical College two days after the doctor’s body was discovered on August 9. He expressed concerns for his safety, leading his lawyer to seek protection from the Calcutta High Court. The court directed him to approach a single bench.

The postgraduate trainee doctor’s body was found in a seminar room at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. A civic volunteer was arrested by police in connection with the case the following day.

"Ghosh reached the CBI's city office at CGO Complex on Monday morning," said an official.

"He was asked to specify his role after getting the news of the death of the doctor, who he had contacted and why he made the parents wait for nearly three hours," the official added.
