Kolkata: The RG Kar victim’s parents on Tuesday said they trust the judiciary to deliver justice but suspected that evidence may have been tampered with.
“There has been an attempt to destroy evidence. And it’s not just me, the whole country is saying this. During investigation, if it is found that former RG Kar principal Sandip Ghosh had tried to tamper with evidence, he should be punished. In that case, there is nothing we can do,” the victim’s father said.
Regarding the Supreme Court asking CBI to submit a status report by Thursday, he said: “This is between the Supreme Court and CBI. I will not comment on it. CBI has told us that this is a long process. They have asked for time and trust. We have faith that we will get justice.”
The PGT’s father refrained from commenting on the deployment of CISF at RG Kar, saying that the matter was under judicial consideration.
Meanwhile, the victim’s mother on Tuesday urged the people to continue with their movement until justice is delivered. “The entire nation is with us. In fact, this movement has spread across the world. We are grateful to everyone for standing by us. We believe that we will get justice. I urge the people of the entire country to continue their fight until we receive justice,” she said.
The father welcomed the Supreme Court’s directive that the state govt should not use force against the protesters. Regarding the appeal to withdraw the protest, he said: “The court must have thought deeply before making this suggestion. I want the protest to continue, and it is evident that everyone is participating in it. We stand with those who are fighting for justice.”
