Bengal guv meets Prez, VP; speaks to doc’s parents

Kolkata: Bengal governor C V Ananda Bose, who was in Delhi, met President Droupadi Murmu and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday.
There is speculation that he may have updated the President on the law and order situation following the R G Kar rape-murder.
Bose also spoke with the the doctor’s parents over the phone, assuring them of his full support.He expressed a desire to visit the family to share in their grief. The parents urged the governor to ensure that their daughter gets justice.
The victim’s father informed Bose that they did not receive the postmortem report or a copy of the FIR. “No one handed over any document to me,” he said.
Bose agreed that the Supreme Court’s intervention was beneficial and promised to follow up on the matter. The victim’s mother pleaded for justice, saying it was essential for them to find peace as their daughter was their only child. Bose responded, “I understand the feelings and pain.”
Commenting on the Supreme Court order the governor said, “Even saints have a past.”
