Kolkata: Former R G Kar principal Sandip Ghosh is among the 50 people against whom Kolkata Police has lodged multiple FIRs for revealing the victim’s identity and posting her photographs. Ghosh has been asked to appear before police by Wednesday noon.
After arresting social media influencer Kirti Sharma on Sunday, police have now carried out a second arrest for revealing the name of the victim and sharing her photographs.The accused has been identified as Amit Chanda (47), a resident of Gagan Sarkar Road. Chanda was picked up based on an FIR registered at Beliaghata police station. He has been charged under 61(2)/192/352/ 353/(2) of BNS Act. Chanda has been granted bail. Cops said that the accused claimed he was "carried away by emotion”.
Kolkata Police has issued more than 200 summons – over WhatsApp and emails – against those who had revealed the name of the victim. “’We have issued summons to former BJP MP Locket Chatterjee, among others. While a few have replied, responses are awaited from others,” said a police officer.
