Kolkata hospital case: TMC MP Sukhendu Roy enters into pact with West Bengal govt, takes down posts on X

Sukhendu Sekhar Roy KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress (TMC) Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy on Tuesday told Calcutta HC he had deleted the contentious posts on X on the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-and-murder protests that had prompted Kolkata Police to summon him for spreading misinformation. He added that he had spoken to police officers about this.
The West Bengal govt told HC that no coercive action would be taken against Roy.
Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj said that the “court was not getting into the matter” since there has been an agreement between the MP and the state.
Complainant Md Adnan had lodged an FIR against Roy based on his posts on X. Roy’s counsel, Abhishek Haldar, submitted that Roy had on Aug 13, Aug 16 and Aug 18 put up posts expressing solidarity with the protests.
