  • NEW DELHI: a former deputy superintendent of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Akhtar Ali, approached the calcutta high court, seeking an Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation into financial irregularities allegedly committed by ex-principal Sandip Ghosh.

Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj granted Ali permission to file the petition, aiming to initiate an ED probe into Ghosh's alleged financial misconduct at the state-run medical facility.

Previously, in 2023, Ali had reported these allegations to the West Bengal government authorities. On Monday, the state government formed a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate the alleged financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

This development comes in the wake of significant media attention after the body of a woman doctor was found in a seminar hall on August 9.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently investigating the alleged rape and murder of the postgraduate trainee, following directives from the high court.
