Kolkata: Clashes broke out between Congress workers and police on Wednesday afternoon when party members and workers tried to enter Kolkata Police’s headquarter at Lalbazar, demanding justice for the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder victim. Congress netas sat on a dharna near Lalbazar, forcing police to remove them from the spot.
Party workers started a rally from College Square and were stopped by cops at Phears Lane.A scuffle broke out and several Congress workers were detained.
“Central forces are now guarding a state govt hospital. The police commissioner should have been removed by now. The vandalism wouldn’t have happened without the help of higher-ups,” said Pradesh Congress chief Adhir Chowdhury.
