Kolkata: Calcutta HC on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of the rape-and-murder of the PGT doctor till Sep 4.
Chief Justice T S Sivagnanam held that since the Supreme Court passed an order on Aug 20, judicial discipline demanded the HC to wait for some time for the next SC hearing on Thursday. “The second portion of the SC order covers most of concerns about doctors’ safety placed in this court,” the CJ said.The division bench of CJ Sivagnanam and Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharyya told senior state counsel Amitesh Banerjee to submit the status report to the SC. Bikash Bhattacharya, senior counsel for victim’s parents, said some of her friends were circulating her old photo. The CJ asked the media to inform people not to reveal the victim’s identity. tnn
