NEW DELHI: A 52-year-old lawyer, is tackling her most challenging case in a 25-year career. The Sealdah court has appointed Kabita Sarkar to defend Sanjoy Roy, the accused in the RG Kar rape-murder case as no other lawyer was willing to take it.
Who is Kabita Sarkar?
She graduated in law from Hooghly Mohsin College.Began her career at Alipore court, focusing on civil cases.Transitioned to criminal law as a SALSA lawyer in February 2023.Moved to Sealdah court in June 2023.
Reason for taking the case

Kolkata RG Kar Hospital horror
A 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor was brutally raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College on August 9, 2024, causing national outrage.Victim found in a semi-nude state.
