  • KOLKATA: The parents of the 31-year-old second-year PGT doctor from R G Kar Medical College have expressed frustration at the lack of visible progress in the probe into the rape and murder case and urged the agency to speed up investigation.

"We are losing patience now. It has been 14 days since the incident. The CBI has to be more proactive. People have their faith in the CBI and we trust them too.But they haven't been able to solve the case so far. They should solve the case fast," said the father of the victim.

"Each day is heavy on us now. Every passing day seems like a year to us. We have faith in the CBI, but they need to find the culprits before we lose our patience," the victim's mother said.

The victim's father, who felt that the place of occurrence was tampered with, claimed that as one of the reasons that is delaying the investigation. "The CBI, otherwise, would not have taken so much time. However, they are trying to gather evidence using different methods like polygraph tests. We spoke to the CBI for nearly six hours. We have told them whatever we know," he said.

Parents of the victim on Friday made a plea to the administration to intervene and stop the circulation of fake news, derogatory comments and inappropriate images of their daughter on social media.

"Please don't make her a tool for anyone's business. However, many of them have removed such posts on social media following our requests. But people should understand a heinous crime is involved here," said her mother. "We urge the administration to take stern action against these perpetrators," she added.

The victim's mother, heartbroken and in tears, recalled her last conversation with her daughter, which took place just hours before the tragic incident. "She was still cheerful when she called me for the last time at around 11.15 pm on Aug 8, after her duty was over," the mother recounted.

"She told me that she and her colleagues had ordered food online, and it had already been delivered. They were about to start dinner. But unlike other days, she didn't call again, and I thought she might have fallen asleep. I never imagined that my daughter could be brutally murdered," she said while breaking down in tears.

Justifying the outrage among students and other protesters "across the nation" she said that the administration has to understand their emotions, too. "None of them want to neglect their duties. They are also against different rackets active inside the hospital. We are with the students and will join their movement if needed. We need justice for our daughter," she said.

(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
