50-year-old arrested for stalking teen in New Alipore

Kolkata: A 50-year-old Haridevpur resident, Proloy Ghosh, was arrested for allegedly stalking a 15-year-old girl in New Alipore.
DC (South) Priyobrata Roy said the girl’s cousin lodged a complaint, saying that around 11.30 am on Thursday, an unknown man in a red car blocked the teenager’s way near the LIC quarters in New Alipore and tried to speak to her.He allegedly asked her name, her mobile number and even offered her cake. But the girl, a Class XI student, fled, police said.
The girl’s mother also alleged that the accused had held her daughter’s hand, with “the intention of outraging the modesty and continuously stalked her with sexual intent”.
Cops checked CCTV footage, examined the vehicle number and traced the accused to his Haridevpur home. A Pocso case has been registered.
