  • Kolkata: A fortnight into the rape and murder of the RG Kar trainee doctor, the grieving parents of the victim have expressed their intent to join the ongoing protests, demanding justice for their daughter.

The parents said they hoped that their participation would bring renewed attention to the case and expedite justice their daughter deserves.

“We stand with the students and support their movement. If necessary, we will join them. We will join any impartial call for action,” the young doctor’s father said.

Her mother, visibly emotional, said , “Our daughter is gone. We now consider the medical students as our own children. We will always stand by them.”

The parents’ pledge to join the protests adds to the growing pressure on the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.

While speaking to the reporters, the parents raised allegations about the investigation. They claimed that efforts were being made to obscure critical information. “We realized from the very beginning that the authorities concerned were attempting to conceal something. It seems that someone influential is being protected,” the father claimed. He further pointed out that the Supreme Court had also expressed grave concerns about an alleged attempt to tamper with evidence in the case.

“The case is being deliberately confused with others. Please do not compare the crime with other cases,” the mother pleaded, adding that the movement for justice must intensify. They also alleged that a broker syndicate was being operated at the hospital.
