• ‘Show cause for protests in school hours’

  • Kolkata: Heads of three state-run schools in Howrah were slapped with show cause notices for organizing protest rallies — joined by students and teachers — over the RG Kar rape and murder ‘during school hours’. The school heads have been asked to reply within 24 hours, failing which they have been warned of strict action.

    The notices were sent by the district inspector of schools (secondary education), Howrah to the heads of Baluhati High School, Baluhati Girls’ High School, and Bantra Rajlakshmi Balika Vidyalaya.Bantra Rajlakshmi Balika Vidyalaya authorities, however, claimed that the rally was called by former students after school hours and the current students were not asked to join the rally.

    Advanced Society for Headmasters and Headmistresses opposed such a move against the heads. tnn
