Kolkata: City cops, probing the R G Kar vandalism, has decided to reissue summons to 12 organisers of ‘Reclaim the Night’ demonstrations who are yet to respond to initial summons.
Those in police custody, who will be produced in a Sealdah court on Aug 28, are also being questioned about the main organisers. A total of 39 persons have been arrested so far in this regard.
“We have summoned them as witnesses.We will ask them to explain their locations that night and the people they were in contact with. We will ask the identity of the ‘admins’ of online groups, where the ‘Bangladesh model’ is still being discussed. Several admins of the ‘Reclaim the Night’ protests are now running WhatsApp groups for the Aug 27 Nabanna march. With the HC intervention, it will be easier to know their stand,” said an officer. “We want to know who chose the volunteers at 120 locations and who arranged for their transport that night.”
Police will inform the court that DYFI-SFI members, summoned regarding the vandalism, have not responded.
