• BJP calls 1-hr Bengal ‘chakka’ bandh on Sept 4

  • Kolkata: Bengal BJP has called a statewide hour-long ‘chakka’ bandh from 11am on Sept 4 to protest the R G Kar rape-murder. On Sept 2, sit-in programmes would be held in front of govt offices across Bengal, the party said.

    “We will continue with the dharna at Esplanade. We have sought police permission. If they don’t give us permission, we will move court,” Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar said.

    On Aug 28, Bengal BJP’s women’s wing will take a rally to the State Women’s Commission’s office and lock its doors. On Aug 29, a gherao programme will be held at DMs’ offices across the state to demand the resignation of CM Mamata Banerjee. BJP has been holding sit-in demonstrations at Shyambazar for the past five days.
