  • Kolkata: CPM on Monday said the ‘Chhatra Samaj’ march to Nabanna was nothing but a BJP-Trinamool ploy to divert attention from the spontaneous campaigns demanding justice in the RG Kar case.

Taking on both BJP and TMC, CPM state secretary Md Salim said: “Suvendu Adhikari has been groomed in the Trinamool school of politics. This is an attempt to reignite the BJP-TMC binary to divert the seething anger in the streets and homes.”

Speaking to reporters, Salim added: “When did you last hear of this Chhatra Samaj? Where were they since the Aug 9 incident? When lakhs reclaimed the streets on Aug 14 night in Bengal, India and the world, did you even hear a whisper about them?”

“From day one we have maintained that there should not be politicisation of this incident. What is the need of this Nabanna Abhiyan? As we speak, there are nearly 100 protests taking place in Bengal. Did the Union health minister speak on this incident? BJP sent multiple teams to Sandeshkhali, while no team was sent to Kolkata on the RG Kar issue. BJP is taking to the streets and Trinamool is vocally opposing it. Who knows... this Samaj may only be a camouflage,” Salim added. tnn
