• Kolkata Police issue traffic advisory amid Nabanna march; several routes diverted

  • In view of the Nabanna march on Tuesday, the Kolkata Police has issued a traffic advisory and implemented diversions on several routes connecting the city to various regions.

    Traffic advisory

    According to the advisory, vehicles coming from the Kolaghat side along NH 16, intending to use the 2nd Hooghly Bridge, can instead take Nibedita Setu from Nibra to reach Kolkata. Similarly, vehicles approaching from the Dankuni side with the same intention can also use Nibedita Setu to head towards Kolkata.For Howrah-bound vehicles coming from Kolkata that plan to use the 2nd Hooghly Bridge or Howrah Bridge, Nibedita Setu is available as an alternative route. Likewise, Kolkata-bound vehicles from Howrah Railway Station intending to use Howrah Bridge or the 2nd Hooghly Bridge can take GT Road and then Nibedita Setu to reach Kolkata.Vehicular movement is restricted on several routes, including Kona Expressway between Nibra and the 2nd Hooghly Bridge; Andul Road between Alampur and Lakshmi Narayantala More; GT Road between Mallick Fatak and Betaitala, Mandirtala and the 2nd Hooghly Bridge, and Kazipara and the 2nd Hooghly Bridge; and Foreshore Road from Kazipara to Ramkrishnapur Crossing.Restrictions are also in place on routes from Howrah Railway Station to Grand Foreshore Road, H.M. Bose Road/R.B. Setu/HIT Bridge to Howrah Bridge on the Kolkata side, HIT Bridge to R.B. Setu, and M.B. Road to N.S. Road at Mallick Fatak.
