Kolkata: CM Mamata Banerjee has instructed chief secretary BP Gopalika to address the issue of attacks on Bengali workers in Odisha. These assaults have reportedly been carried out under the pretext that the workers are illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.
Earlier this month, Banerjee spoke to Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi, who assured her such incidents would not occur again.However, at a recent cabinet meeting, MoS Seuli Saha said attacks on migrants from Bengal were continuing. The CM expressed concern and requested a detailed report, instructing officials to take up the issue with their Odisha counterparts. tnn
