  • CBI continues to question Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, about the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor. NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continues its interrogation of Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor.

Ghosh has been summoned for questioning for the 13th consecutive day as the CBI probes this high-profile case following orders from the Calcutta High Court.

"Ghosh appeared before our sleuths for questioning," stated an official from the central agency. Ghosh has been interrogated by the CBI for over 130 hours concerning the incident.

The investigation was handed over from the Kolkata Police to the CBI after the body of the postgraduate trainee doctor was found at the state-run hospital on August 9. A civic volunteer, Sanjoy Roy, has already been arrested by Kolkata Police in connection with the case.

Both Sandip Ghosh and Sanjoy Roy have undergone polygraph tests as part of the ongoing investigation. The CBI has also named Ghosh in an FIR related to alleged financial irregularities at the hospital during his tenure.

On August 25, the CBI conducted a comprehensive search operation at Ghosh's residence in Beliaghata, Kolkata, in connection with these corruption allegations.

Additionally, the Enforcement Directorate has filed a money laundering case to investigate potential financial misconduct at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital during the period Ghosh served as principal.

Official sources indicate that protests against the death of the trainee doctor have been sustained, continuing to resonate both within the state and across the country.
