  • KOLKATA: Three faculty members of Medical College and Hospital (MCH), Kolkata, were expelled from the Medical College Ex-students' Association (MCESA) on Sunday, as the trend of "ostracising" doctors, who are allegedly part of the 'North Bengal lobby' in the state, continued.

The move comes a day after the RG Kar Ex-students' Association expelled MLA Sudipto Roy, chairman of Rogi Kalyan Samity of the hospital, from its life membership.

Doctors Suhena Sarkar, Manab Nandy and Tapan Naskar, who are now attached with MCH - and alumni of the institute -- have been expelled from the membership of MCESA. The decision was taken during a general body meeting of the association on the college campus.

The three have already been barred from academic activities and student affairs by the college council after it found truth in a complaint of intimidation by a female student of the college.

Sources indicated that ex-students' associations of other medical colleges are likely to take similar action against those who are being named in the 'North Bengal' syndicate.
