  • Kolkata: Mohammedan Sporting (MSC)’s final group-stage match against Measurers Club was abandoned due to inclement weather at the Naihati stadium on Sunday but the three-time defending champions advanced to the CFL Premier Division’s championship round as one of the top three teams from their group.

    Mohammedan Sporting were leading 1-0 against Measurers when heavy rain and waterlogging in the ground brought an early end to the match after the second half With Diamond Harbour FC (32 points) and Suruchi Sangha — who beat Army Red 3-0 and finished with 24 points — having already qualified for the Super 6, Mohammedan Sporting (19 points from 11 matches) and United SC (18 points) were fighting for the top 3 finish in Group A.However, United SC lost 0-2 to BSS Sporting Club, thus sealing Mohammedan Sporting’s place in the Super 6. tnn
