• Hosp security meet: Cop focus on response time

  • Kolkata: Senior officials of five medical colleges in Kolkata — led by assistant supers and security advisors — held a high-level meeting with senior officers at Lalbazar on Tuesday to discuss ways to enhance security on the premises.

    The cops were represented by additional CP (V) Ashesh Biswas. The meeting discussed ways in which the response time to incidents on hospital campuses can be brought down.Stock-taking, following security audits that included number of operational CCTVs and enough illumination, was also completed. The talks also revolved around security related suggestions made by various medical colleges recently.

    Authorities from SSKM, NRS, Kolkata Medical College and Hospital, National Medical College and Hospital and R G Kar Medical College attended the meeting. M R Bangur, though not a medical college, was also represented.

    There were talks on number of security guards at night, whether there are CCTVs and how many of them are active. Whether repairs have been carried out for inactive cameras and measures taken to prevent entry of outsiders were also discussed. Strength of cops at the hospitals was also discussed.
