• Two-day security audit at Kol airport

  • Kolkata: A two-day security audit was conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a specialized United Nations agency that coordinates international air navigation to ensure safe air travel.

    Auditors from the ICAO oversaw the security process at the airport, including the safety checks by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on the city side, in the terminal as well as in the operational area where planes are parked.The safety audit over Monday and Tuesday was carried out at two Indian airports: NSCBI Airport in Kolkata and Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

    Kolkata airport officials explained all procedures and addressed the queries of the four-member audit team led by Callum Lewis Vine. “BCAS, airlines, catering units and cargo were all audited,” said an airport official.
