Kolkata: More than 53 days after promoter Shamsher Ali (38) was found murdered behind a shopping mall in Karaya, Kolkata Police has arrested accused Rahul Karmakar alias Karan from Tinsukia, Assam. He was brought to Kolkata on Thursday on transit remand.
On July 12, Ali was killed inside his office. Karaya cops and the homicide branch of Lalbazar started an investigation and, subsequently, Karmakar, a close associate of the victim, went on the run.Karmakar was presented in Alipore court on Friday and sent to police custody until Sept 14. Investigators are questioning him in phases to determine the motive for murder. tnn
